Every year, the ceremony features performances by prominent artists. The 62nd ceremony of the grammy awards was held Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The ceremony began with a tribute to Kobe Bryant, the retired NBA star, including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, who both died a few hours before the ceremony in a helicopter crash.
« Tonight is for Kobe » declared the singer Lizzo, and went on with a medley of her songs « Cuz I love you » and « Truth Hurts ». Alicia Keys, who was hosting the show for the second time took a moment to honor the retired Kobe.
Throughout the night, the 18-year-old Billie Eilish won five Grammy, including the four most competitive prizes such as the album, record, song of the year and best new artist. « Bad guy » earned the record and song of the year, « When we all fall asleep, where do we go? » won album of the year and best pop vocal album . She is the youngest artist to win album of the year.
Demi Lovato, the singer of 27-year-old made a return to the stage after a year and a half, it was her first performance after suffering a drug-related medical emergency in 2018. She sang « Anyone » acompanied by a piano, a song she recorded four days before nearly losing her life.
John Legend, Kirk Franklin , DJ Khaled, Meek Mill and Robby Ricch took a moment for a moving tribute to Nispey Hussle, who died on March 31, 2019, at 33. They won best rap performance for « Higher ». DJ Khaled and John Legend both dedicated the award to Nipsey Hussle.
