Banksy, the iconic artist with an unknown face

Since his inception in the 90s, Banksy has fascinated and challenged the whole world with his many works as beautiful as they are committed, but also his mysterious side. Nobody knows who is hiding behind with the famous street artist pseudonym even if many seek to uncover the secret. Until 2014 he had been renowned street artist, but since then his cultural status has been on the rise since foreigners have associated him with the most iconic characters of the United Kingdom such as the Queen of England, William Shakespeare or the Beatles.

Banksy is everywhere! He has distinguished himself in several of the largest cities in our world. This artist, however anonymous, has had great global success which has allowed him to sell some of his works for hundreds of thousands of euros.
His famous work of art « The Little Girl with the Balloon », made in 2002 in London on the Waterloo Bridge at South Bank, was put up for auction in October 2018 but self-destructed before the eyes of buyers and spectators.

Today, there are thousands of fans who want to see and take pictures of the artist’s many murals scattered around the world. We travel from London to New York with his works « No Ball Games », « Slave Labour » as well as « Waiting in Vain » and « The street is in play », without forgetting to visit Paris to go see the famous little girl covering a swastika but also the work carried out on the Bataclan door following the tragic attacks of 2015.

For those who would like to discover Banksy’s works without traveling around the world, they can go to Paris to browse « The World of Banksy – The Immersive Experience », an exhibition entirely dedicated to him at Espace Lafayette-Drouot until June 30, 2020. These simply curious or passionate street art people are lucky enough to be able to admire his works from private collections as well as perfect reproductions of his murals , here made by street-graffiti artists from all over the world, having made the trip just for the occasion.
